Between Marc’s 2015 Cota qualifying and his 2019 Brno qualifying which one do you find more impressive. (Also, what made him such a good qualifier cause if I’m remembering correctly vale and Jorge are tied for number of career poles at 64 or something and Marc has 94 I think, did his riding style just suit fast 1 lap times?)

oh, I'm definitely more of a 2019 brno type of girl. 2015 is a fun bit, great sense of drama with the propped up bike and the sprinting and all that, good job keeping his head under pressure. but fundamentally once he gets to the line in time to do his lap, it's not all that surprising he pops it on pole at one of his specialist circuits. still, cool visuals with the bike buckling under him and everything, got the novelty value going for it. brno 2019 is more fun because it is genuinely just an exceptional performance even by his standards, and the whole session is enjoyable to watch with everyone unsure about what the right tyre call is. when they say it's started raining again!! people taking their umbrellas out while marc is clinging onto that dry line... when he does another lap and goes even faster... idk, I do enjoy a proper good mixed/wet performance anyway, that one was definitely memorable. it's also the session where he pisses off alex rins, prompting rinsy saying that marc doesn't respect other riders, so it gets an automatically boost for me in causing some much-needed drama

as for why he's such a good qualifier - well, you mention the record vs valentino and jorge, but given the respective scopes of their careers I don't think it's quite right to group them together. the tiers basically go casey/marc, then jorge somewhere in the middle, then dani/valentino at the bottom. (also, I have the ghost of jorge lorenzo on my shoulder telling me to set the record straight: he ended his career on 69 poles to valentino's 65.) not to be facetious, but the reason why marc was so good at qualifying is that... well, look, he's just an incredibly gifted rider. he's fast. or so I've heard. you wouldn't really describe him as more of a saturday than a sunday man either - he was just very well-rounded. both marc and casey were very adept at throwing the bike around the circuit whatever the conditions... just kind of that x factor that allowed them to consistently hustle up a fast lap in every situation. if anything, it's valentino who was the outlier here in terms of career achievements vs qualifying prowess - he was the one who was just such an exceptional racer that any slight shortcomings as a qualifier only ever cost him later in his career (where his qualifying did begin to drop off, but that is also an age/format thing). obviously still a very good qualifier by normal standards... it was just never his forte. valentino had a career long preference towards harder tyres (which is partly a height + weight thing in terms of getting heat into the tyres), plus he was generally at his strongest late in races when the grip of the tyres has gone and it was a lot more slippery for everyone. his working process was also a bit more... hm, incremental. languid, shall we say. than marc's and especially casey's, who of course was always the guy who was fast everywhere immediately. the way valentino went about things, he was more prone to pulling some pace out of the bag last minute - plus prioritising race set-up, playing to his strengths and banking on a decent qualifying result to be enough to keep him in the mix. and jorge's somewhere in the middle where he WAS very good at stringing together a fast lap and was also super consistent about putting that thing on the front row - just not casey/marc good - because... well, in this rather potent group of riders, that's roughly where he falls by most metrics

bit more talk about this here, but in terms of actual stats... here's how it shakes out (this is just for premier class starts and is already a little out of date for marc, I'll update some of these spreadsheets once the season's done)

and just for seasons where they were top five in the championship standings, to limit it to the broadly competitive seasons

obviously you still have to apply a little context here - for instance it'd be fair to say that casey had tougher competition on average in qualifying than either marc or valentino. but like. just to give you a broad sense of where they're at

Damian: And humiliate myself? I have self respect Todd.

Tim: Yeah, no. I'm already running low on my energy drink. I don't think I can even lift a finger right now.

Cass: I am agile, not strong. If Jason can't beat him, I probably can't too.

Steph: How are you so strong anyway?

Bruce: Dad strength.

Jason: Bullshit.

Dick: Dad strength is real?

Damian: Is that why you keep bringing in new children, father?

*Entering the living room*

Duke: Hey, guys. Danny's here. He has some burgers with him.

Danny: Way to rat out my lunch, dude.

Duke: You have like 2 dozen burgers there. Ain't no way you are eating all of that.

Danny: You don't know that. I could totally eat all of this.

Duke: Sure you can. What are all of you doing on the coffee table? And why does Jason look like he wants to shoot Bruce.

Steph: He lost to Bruce in arm wrestling.

Tim: And Bruce says the only reason he is strong is because of Dad strength.

Duke: You're exaggerating. Bruce can't be that strong.

-2 minutes later-

Duke: I take back what I say.

Danny: Oh I want to try. I've been lifting a lot recently. Look at this. *Flex almost nonexistent muscle*

Tim: Yeah, sure dude. Looks great.

Damian: Your sarcasm is dripping, Drake. And there is no way you are beating father, Fenton.

Danny: Oh just you wait.

-1 minute later-

Jason: What The Fuck.

Dick: You're joking, Bruce. Tell me you're joking.

Jason: There is no fucking way I am weaker than this twink. He looks more malnourished than when I was a street kid.

Damian:*Frowns heavily*

Steph and Cass: *Laughing at Jason's, Bruce's and Dick's shocked face*

Tim: How are you so strong?

Danny: Dad strength.

Tim doesn't know how he got here.

Sitting in Aquarium's office, holding a sniffling 4 year old little girl named ellen Nightingale on his lap with her head snuggling against his chest, nibbling on a Whale shaped cookie after all they both got lost.

He only looked away for a moment, and Bruce and the batfam dissappear on him while he was anazyling the heavier coffee choices at one of the Aquarium's coffee places.

Only to come out with a combination coffee that cost him 18 dollars more and nearly instinctly kick a teary eyed 4 year old Ellen that lost her mommy and mistook him as him, clinging to his leg out of the blue.

Apparently, Ellen got distracted by a cart vendor holding cute whale cookies while her mommy was talking to her big brother danta about not biting the birthday girl's older sister even if she being rude and now she lost, and she thought he was mummy and she doesn't know what do than the tears came.

Apparently, mommy looked like Tim only mommy had a bunch of pretty white fluffy in her hair and a lighting dancing on her face, but she extremely pretty and single to was Ellen's babbling about.

8 minutes in, a frantic pretty boy with mainly pepper flowing down salt like short hair came in, a 6 year old boy that look like him but white hair coated mainly piggybacking him that spotted him and Ellen, pointing at her.

"I found her first, i get to have The Death Pepper ice cream now!" Shriek out the 6 year old danta.

"Mommy!"

"Oh, thank ancients! Thank you for bringing her to the office here, mister..?" The supposedly Mummy glance his greenish blue baby-doll eyes at Tim, a strain of Lichtenberg figure spread upward from his neck to the forehead of his face as Ellen leaped into the arms of her mummy.

"Um- Tim Drake, and you are..?" Tim felt his face flush a bit as he stood up to shake hands with him.

"He is mummy, you dumb low-life bottom feeder!" Tiny fist waving as Danta imploded at him.

"Oh, biological speaking, yes. It's hard enough to get them to switch to Daddy, but it stuck onto me. My name is Danny Nightingale, and I appreciate that you found my little girl before I ranshake the entire aquarium like a pirate for buried treasure for her." Danny spoke softly, joking at the end, carefully holding Ellen, who snuggled her face against his chest like she did earlier with Tim.

"Yeah, she cling onto me harder than the octopus from Finding Dory when she thought I was you after I lost my own group." Tim said back, softly joking back while he sipped and choked his coffee as Ellen beamed about how Mister Tim got her two whale cookies with the blue eyes she wanted earlier and quietly failed at mumbling on can they keep him?

"Interesting.. well, she seemed attached to you, and you seem to be reliable enough to distract her from causing mayham. If you ever wanted to babysit for me, you can have my number?" Danny said, pulling out clownfish theme napkin and taking a pen from the office free pen jar.

'Wait, what?' Is what Tim thought to himself after Danny said his goodbyes, Danta sticking his tongue out, and Ellen cutely waving bye-bye as they left.

The napkin he was holding in his hand had an apartment address and a number contact along with a winking face and clumsily childish doodle of snowflakes, fire, and Dory fish next to it.

Bruce and the batfam came in the office seconds later after Tim pocket the contact info.

Might end up with a part 2. Idk yet

Jason has like just arrived back to Gotham, caused chaos in the underbelly due to well, 8 heads in a duffle bag, and is just starting his takeover of Crime Alley. It's going good, great even! And then he busts some sort of gang or smuggling ring run by people in white suits and there's... holy shit why do these four toddlers have Lazarus eyes?!

Is that a lab?! And Lazarus waters?! Jason might be a bit mad but he's not an asshole, he's not going to just leave these kids here to the streets. He can't just take them to the Batclan either, and as much as he begrudgingly trusts Talia, he sure as fuck doesn't trust Ras. Who knows what he'd do to four... what are they, pit-kids?

Now he's juggling his whole revenge-thing, running a criminal empire, taking over Gotham's underbelly, and being a single dad. At least the goonion seems to be down for helping, seeing as he's making Crime Alley safer...? .... Fuck he needs some proper sleep
